Punta Cana enjoys a warm and very tropical climate throughout the year, with a temperature that varies between 27°C and 31°C, which can drop to 23°C in winter. The climate and popular festivities are closely linked in Punta Cana and the rest of the country; their influence is evident in their color and rhythm.

More than a popular party, merengue is a creed on the island; it accompanies all kinds of events, which is why the Merengue Festival is celebrated throughout the country. Everything is spiritual, party, and devotional fun, in which their enthusiastic visitors celebrate this Eucharist to the rhythm and sound of the incredible Dominican merengue. Punta Cana is wrapped in the rhythm and happy movement of merengue in one of the most important religious festivals that takes place there, the Feast of the Virgin of Altagracia, Patroness of the country, which takes on great importance near the Bay of Bavaro, in the Basilica of Higuey, on the 21st of January.
