Recently, the spotlight has been on Punta Cana's world-renowned golf courses and their spectacular architecture, particularly the designs of Jack Nicklaus. However, there are several other golf courses in Punta Cana designed by other professionals in the field, including Alberto Solá, José Gancedo, Tom Fazio, and P.B. Dye, located in various tourist complexes that share similar characteristics and complement Punta Cana's avant-garde collection of golfing destinations.
In this review, we will take a closer look at some of these courses:
Cabeza de Toro, designed by Alberto Solá and located within the Catalonia Bávaro Resort, features five lakes and many trees that define its character. Despite being small, this challenging golf course was designed for both experienced and beginner golfers, with 9 holes that can be played twice for those who prefer to play 18.
Cocotal Golf & Country Club, designed by José "Pepe" Gancedo, is defined as the most fun and friendly golf experience. This course consists of three 9-hole courses on an old coconut plantation, surrounded by small lakes and palm trees, and playing to the rhythm of the constant winds.
Corales Golf Course, designed by Tom Fazio, is an exclusive and spectacular 18-hole course with six holes along the Caribbean Sea. Its architecture stands out as it goes along the natural cliffs, bays, coves of the ocean, inland lakes, and coral quarries, making it one of the best golf experiences in the world. The course is at the Corales Golf Club of Puntacana Resort & Club.
La Cana Golf Club, designed by P.B. Dye, has 14 holes overlooking the crystal-clear blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. It has become a favorite for many due to Puntacana Resort & Club's efforts to implement innovative methods in the production and maintenance of the grass used while also prioritizing the conservation of the environment.
Iberostar Bavaro Golf & Club, another excellent course designed by P.B. Dye, is a par 72, 18-hole course surrounded by lush vegetation, lakes, streams, and desert areas that provide stunning panoramic views. With its unique playing field, this course offers rewarding experiences to golf enthusiasts and remains open 365 days a year.
Punta Cana offers a diverse range of possibilities for golf enthusiasts to enjoy while indulging in beach days.
